2020 Saratoga Miss Softball Recreation Season Further Update

UpdatedFriday May 1, 2020 byJohn Dowd.

Hello everyone:

I just wanted to reach out to give everyone a further update on the upcoming Saratoga Miss Softball recreation softball season.  At this juncture, the league is still intending to go forward with the upcoming season. That being said, the ability to go forward with this season will be dependent on the Governor ending the pause order and the City furnishing us with approval to start using the fields.

We have established a social distancing protocol which will allow us to play this season and have forwarded it on to the City for their approval.  In the event the pause order is lifted and the City opens up the fields in the next few weeks, we will look to begin the recreation season starting with practices with games to follow.

Since the fields are still not open for group activities, we will not be able to conduct the player evaluations which were scheduled to take place this weekend.  Additionally, since we will likely be on a very tight time frame to start our season, it will be very unlikely that any organized player evaluations will take place before the commencement of a season.  Instead, we will look to conduct an online player draft for the A, AA and possible AAA player divisions prior to the start of any season.

Additionally, I wanted to let everyone know that player registration for this season is still open.  With schools now closed for the remainder of this academic year, we are hoping to provide a recreation softball season for girls who have lost their school ball season.  In the event that a recreational softball season cannot be conducted, we will be issuing refunds (or alternatively an account credit) for all registrants.

Once we know more, a further update will be provided.

Thanks everyone.  I'm hoping to see the girls at the fields playing softball soon.
