Further COVID Update - June 15, 2020 - Softball to Resume!!!

UpdatedMonday June 15, 2020 byJohn Dowd.

As some of you may have learned yesterday, Governor Cuomo authorized youth softball to commence in our region on July 6, 2020.  In light of the foregoing, we are going to start preparing for the start of the season.

Our Board of Directors will be meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, June 16, 2020) at the fields at 5:15 p.m. to discuss our opening plan. Needless to say, our organization has a lot to accomplish before July 6.  We could really use some new Board members to effectuate the reopening plan.  If you are interested in joining the Board, please let me know or come to tomorrow's meeting.

In addition to the planning for the season, we are also going to need some assistance in getting the fields ready for the season.  More particularly, all of the infields are going to need to be weeded.  The dugouts also are going to need to be straightened up.  If you are available to help with the cleanup, we would ask that you show up at the fields on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. with rakes, tools and lawn bags.

As for a tentative schedule, we would anticipate something along the lines of the following:

June 19, 2020 - field cleanup at the fields at 5:30 p.m.

June 25, 2020 - Drafting of teams

July 6, 2020 - team practices to begin

July 17 - Games to begin

July 18 - Opening Ceremonies

August 29 & 30 - Tentative Championship games for A and AA Division

Registration is currently open on our website.  If you or someone you know is interested in playing, I would encourage them to register no later than June 23, 2020 to ensure their placement on a team.

Once more information is furnished to us by the state/city about the return to play guidelines, we will pass them along.
